We were on a great boating cruise recently. It went to one of my favorite places, the area of marshes between Bear Island and the Intracoastal Waterway.

Finally the water has warmed to over 70F and it is time to start paddling.

I have enjoyed spending a week back in my uniform of shorts and t-shirt. I am not pleased to have to give them up this weekend for bluejeans and a sweat shirt. The warm days are just teasing us.

In spite of a nasty forecast for the next 36 hours, winter has had its last shot at us on the Crystal Coast.

In spite of the ice in this picture from earlier in the week, winter’s back is broken on the Crystal Coast.

Raymond’s Gut just up the river from Swansboro, North Carolina, froze in the wake of the Siberian Express. Fortunately our freeze-up only lasted a little over a day. This morning we had a little fog on the river but were ice free. Our temperature managed to hit 66F this afternoon before heading back down.
